LEGAL ISSUES CONCERNING ABORTION:

If you have sustained an injury during an abortion, have had your rights violated, or have any other legal grievance against an abortionist and/or an abortion clinic, BY ALL MEANS SUE FOR DAMAGES! If you do not sue, the same practices may continue and other women may be harmed, as you have been. Timing typically is important. You may live in a state with a statute of limitations, which means you need to file a lawsuit within a certain period of time after you become aware of your injury. A competent attorney can guide you in this matter.

If you do not personally know an attorney, there are several options for you:

  • You may look in the yellow pages of your local telephone directory under "Attorneys." Most of the practicing attorneys in your area will be listed here. Some attorneys may advertise specialization or interest in such areas as "malpractice," "medical malpractice," or "personal injury" law. Even if you contact an attorney who does not practice this type of law, he or she likely can refer you to a competent attorney who has experience in this type of practice.
  • You may look in the yellow pages of your local telephone directory under "Abortion Alternatives" for the crisis pregnancy center or pregnancy resource center in your area. Personnel there may know attorneys who specialize in abortion injury law.
  • Listed below are some national attorney referral groups which may be able to refer you to an abortion injury attorney in your area.

If you are having thoughts of suicide, IMMEDIATELY seek help. Ask someone right now, such as a parent or adult sibling, to stand with you as you obtain professional help. Someone can help you find the professional counseling and treatment that will stop your self-destructive thoughts. Do not delay. You can be helped now!

Your community may also have telephone counselors to help you with thoughts of suicide. Look in the telephone directory(yellow pages), under a heading such as "Suicide Prevention Service." Do not hesitate to go to your local hospital emergency room or even call your community's local emergency help number (in many communities: 9-1-1), if you are contemplating suicide. You can be helped!
