Are You Now Pregnant and Undecided about Abortion?

Decide carefully whether to have an abortion. Your decision is important, because it is irreversible. Your baby, once aborted, can never be replaced.

Though you may now feel the most loneliness and despair you have ever felt, you do not need to go through this difficult time alone! There are many resources of strength, experience, and wisdom available to you now. Blount County Right to Life lists the following resources for you to consider whether one or more of them is right for you:

Help through faith for a Christian: If you are a Christian, there are spiritual resources for you:

  • Bible: Read pertinent Scriptures of The Holy Bible to understand what God, your Heavenly Father, wants for your life, of you. Go to some of these Scriptures reproduced in this Web site.
  • Prayer: Pray about your decision. Prayer is merely talking to God. You pray best when you pray privately and speak your heart to God in a simple conversation with Him, rather than trying to recite a memorized prayer. In fact, Jesus warned against reciting the same prayers over and over. God is your Heavenly Father, and He loves you and your unborn baby. Talk to Him as your Father. Tell Him your problem and your agonizing decision. Ask Him to reveal what He wants you to do- whether to have an abortion or give your baby life through birth.
  • Reliance upon the Holy Spirit: As you seek God's will for your life by reading The Holy Bible and through prayer, listen for the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart and mind. After Jesus was raised from death and before He ascended to Heaven, He promised that the Holy Spirit would be sent to be with every person for guidance. Do not under-estimate the great power available to you through the Holy Spirit. Tap into this power as you make your decision! You will usually know the Holy Spirit by gentle, quiet impressions placed in your mind, but beware of Satan, who may also place impressions in your mind. How do you tell the difference? The Holy Spirit will always lead you to follow God's path for your life, as laid out in The Holy Bible, but Satan will always lead you to follow a path not found in The Bible.
  • Spiritual leader: Talk to a spiritual leader- a Christian pastor or priest, Messianic Jewish leader, or Jewish rabbi- if you know one. If you do not attend church or synagogue, ask a friend or relative for referral to someone he or she trusts. Explain your situation. Ask for guidance. Anything you discuss with one of these spiritual leaders is completely confidential, and should not be divulged to anyone else.

Family member: Talk to a trusted family member, such as a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, or brother or sister. You may be surprised at the love, understanding, experience, support, and wisdom this family member has. If you are married, should you not also discuss your contemplated abortion with your husband?

Abortion alternatives organization: There are organizations in many communities which provide free pregnancy testing and have counselors on staff who can discuss choices other than abortion with you. The counselors may explain how you may receive assistance during your pregnancy, if needed, and options for your baby after he or she is born (whether you choose placing your baby for adoption or raising him or her yourself).

Assistance in locating one of these fine organizations may be obtained through:

  • Telephone book yellow pages: Look in the yellow pages of your telephone book under the heading "Abortion Alternatives" for an organization near you.
  • The Internet: Access Optionline (Pregnancy Centers Online) to locate the abortion alternatives group nearest you. You may also call toll-free: 1.800.395.HELP (1.800.395.4357).

Other Internet resources include:

Personal physician: You may want to talk to your personal physician before you visit the abortion clinic. Understand that the abortion clinic is in the abortion business. Since the clinic and abortionist derive income from abortions, these people have a vested interest in steering you to a decision to have an abortion. Get a second opinion and counseling from a physician you trust (even your former pediatrician) who has no financial interest in whether you have an abortion. Anything you discuss with your physician is completely confidential, and should not be divulged to anyone else.

Counseling in Blount County: If you live in or near Blount County, Tennessee, contact the Pregnancy Resource Center, Maryville, for assistance. The telephone number is 977.8378 (area code 865).

Anonymous counseling by telephone: If you wish to talk to someone about your pregnancy but wish to do so anonymously, you may consider calling any of the following toll-free telephone numbers:
